Speech Buddie Videos Yee

So first off we have Courtney giving her speech on Light Pollution. I liked her style of presenting the best so far i think. Very clean cut and she made the points obvious. Right from the introduction she lays out her points and informs her audience of what they will be hearing about. Then Matthew came out with his speech about 'Drinking'. Matthew try's to portray drinking with a negative connotation to it using the example of people drinking just to drink and get drunk. Which, i am not endorsing drinking, but those who i know definitely drink to get drunk. I wasn't aware that there are other reasons for drinking. However, i do agree with Matt on the whole against drunk driving movement. If you are intoxicated, just pass out. There is no need to drive. Careful planning saves lives. If you are going to go to a party and plan on drinking yourself to a good place. Have a sober friend for the night. Better yet, most of the parties around state you can walk to, so there is no need to drink and drive!

Courtney definitely gave me some insight on how to clean up my speeches since as you've probably read in my previous blogs, they aren't the clearest and most prepared! Lets see, something that stood out in Matts speech that our professor would probably like to see me use is when he takes his time and recovers. I would just go off and start making things up lol. He was calm and collective. Which is definitely the way to go!

as for all my followers, thanks for following my blog! and i know i haven't been putting in as much work as i should be and i apologize for that because you deserve more from me! So, i will be putting in more man hours to my blogs and making them more of a joy to read, thank you for your patience, and good luck to everyone on their speeches!!!

Ch, 6 Video's

These videos were a little more interesting then the last ones, it was definitely insightful to learn about the library and all the tools and resources that are available to you including the people that work there lol. Dory rocked in her video but again I'm not to into the whole nervous scene. Or at least I think I'm confident and can give a decent speech but i guess we will see when we give our speeches now wont we? Which reminds me i should probably recheck my speech topics and start researching them lol. And am i the only one who was confused about the slugs? lol

research interview

I have given an interview on two occasions. First the interview was with one of my teachers in highschool for my AP Spanish course. Given the interview was in spanish so it was probably a little different then if i was giving it in english. One of the only things I was worried about was the use of correct words. It is a little difficult when talking in a second language lol. Also having a good reserve of questions to ask is helpfull. The second instance was a little better since it was in english. My second interview was with one of my parents friends who owns his own business. It was for my bus. 10 class last semester actually. I felt a little intimidated by him because he knew so much about the topics i asked him it was kind of overwhelming. So i would definitely suggest researching the topics of your interview before you dive into the interview itself as you might feel unprepaired.

Speech Buddies

The three videos definitely had some useful tips for delivering a speech. However, as I've stated in my previous blog I don't have a big fear of public speaking, it is what it is. One of the things I did find useful in the clips was the visualization method that Janine used. Although I have never really taken any speech classes or seminars it seems natural for me to do this before I do anything that requires me to focus a little harder then usual. I close my eyes and picture how I’m going to give the speech, where I’m going to try and be funny or serious and just get a good vibe going so that all falls into place when its time to get it done.

What Makes You Apprehensive About Public Speaking?

Well to be completely honest, nothing really if I have a knowledge of what I am talking about, and since I try to make it a habit of not discussing things I do not know that much about I tend to not be to apprehensive when I do feel like talking. I guess if I am supposed to be relating to some of the information we we’re to read, “uncertainty about the setting” or context of the conversation or impromptu speech would be the only apprehension that I would have. I am pretty quick witted and if I feel the audience is slipping away into pink pony land and no longer interested in what I am saying I will simply say something completely off topic or unwarranted to bring their attention back to the present and brush it off like it was part of my speech.

As for my fellow peers in this class, if you are nervous when presenting in front of the rest of us on our given speech dates, I would suggest you not look in my direction for I have a tendency to have a contagious grin.
